Drone flutes
Bagpipes are but one of many types of drone instruments. The flutes below are based on the Bulgarian Dvoyanka.
Printing advise
- Use food-safe filament if you mean to play these instruments. Generic filaments may contain harmful additives (check safety data sheets on supplier websites).
- Supports are not necessary if you print them sidewise (text up). Do not use supports inside the bore;
- You may want to support the fipple (picture below) but I have good results without;
- You may need to do a little work on the knife edge if
- The whistle does not sound
- Sounds very breathy with low volume
- Requires a lot of pressure to get going
1) Remove any stringy filament and support material from the fipple opening using a sharp blade and or sand paper
2) Check the inner bore for stringy material, remove if possible
3) Use a flat screwdriver to lift the knife edge a little bit
